Adjacent to the village is Cranborne Manor set in beautiful gardens. The Manor is the Dorset home of Viscount Cranborne, the eldest son of the 7th Marquess of Salisbury. The gardens are open once a week in the Spring and Summer for the public to enjoy. Around the estate grounds and village there are some lovely walks and many hikers & cyclists stop off here for lunch and a refreshing pint on their travels.

The wonderful market towns of Wimborne and Ringwood are within 20 minutes driving time and the picturesque town of Fordingbridge is only 15 minutes away.

You can drive into The New Forest via Fordingbridge, where the famous ponies, donkeys and cattle graze wild and wander freely over the wide-open moorland and through the quaint villages set within the Forest boundaries. Many signed walks allow you to explore some of the 90,000 acres of magnificent scenery and natural forest.

Jurassic Coast

The popular seaside towns of Bournemouth & Poole are both easily accessible, along with a host of other coastal towns & villages, which boast some of the most beautiful beaches and stunning sea views in the country. Dorset is famed for its stunning Jurassic coast.

The beautiful gardens at Edmondsham House, with its Tudor & Georgian architecture, are just down the road and are open April to October on Wednesday & Sunday to visitors between 2pm and 5pm.

The Heavy Horse Centre is a few minutes drive away allows an experience of farm life "hands on" and is a favourite with families. See the magnificent Shire horses, our Ardennes who pull the wagon or watch the daily show of the working horse. View the Gypsy caravans, showman’s van and wagons. Meet and groom the miniature Shetland ponies and Donkeys. Take a wagon or a tractor ride or have fun in the straw barn slide or help feed some of the many animals there.

The famous Dorset Steam Fair takes place a few miles down the road in the week after August Bank Holiday every year and attracts visitors from all over the country.

Cranborne Chase covers 981 sq km and is classed as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with many stunning walks.

The 19th century Stapehill Abbey Gardens are located at nearby Ferndown and are open Wednesday to Sunday 10am to 5pm.

Moors Valley Country Park – a favourite with local families- hosts a miniature steam railway, golf and the popular “High Wire Forest Adventure” – aerial trekking through the forest. It is located 15 minutes drive from Cranborne. Admission is free.
